Hey VS Choir :D This reminder goes out to all those who have been called up by your SLs to perform for tomorrow's Sec 1 Orientation. Please be outside the music room by 8 am . You are to be in your school uniform and tie . Hey yo people of VS Choir!!! Over the past few months, Mr Kwei has assembled together members from his existing choirs from all over Singapore together into the Inaugural Choir Elite team, and with this team, he is hosting a concert on the 30th of December at Esplanade. I am proud to say that a group of seven of us from VS Choir including myself have been 'singing behind the scenes' as part of the team =D Concert Details Here Please do note that this concert isn't compulsory, but you are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to go as we will be performing La Peregrinacion and Seal Lullaby amongst other songs. HEY YO VS CHOIR!!! As you readers can see, the blogskin has finally been spruced up by our dear friend Kenneth Chiang!!! 8D A huge thanks to him for finally changing the scene around these parts... So, the Choir year is OFFICIALLY OVER , and it ended with a big bang today with ISG !!! A huge thank you to ALL WHOM ATTENDED for making it such a huge success, and I hope you all as a section have bonded even more through your rise and pitfalls today ;) Enjoy your remaining days in 2009 and the Committee wishes all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance >=D

YO CHOIR! An entire year of choir has finally come to a close and I sure hope that you all have had a fun and meaningful time with us! To mark the end of the year, we are holding our very-belated Inter-Section Games (ISG) day on this Saturday, 19th December at 7.30am . There will be both a Soccer and Captains' Ball tournament running concurrently as each section tries to win the top honours (and bragging rights) for each sport! Think of ISG as a VERY competitive, and longer version of PT ;) Please do come down and contribute your efforts and support to your section! The more people there are, the more people each section will be permitted to allow to play in each match! And remember to turn up in your PE kit! (No extra set of clothes is required as there will be no practice after that !) [More details will be briefed on the day itself] See you there! xP ~Rifdi

Next practice is tomorrow, Thursday, 17 December at 9am . Please be reminded that this will be the last formal practice before the start of year end break for the choir, so please do attend (all practices are compulsory anyway ;P). Heys Choir, The Choir Camp 2009 is officially over. (: The committee has put in a lot of effort in the preparation process of the camp. We really hope it has been an enjoyable experience to all of you. (: Yes, there were a lot of circumstances we faced, especially with the weather that caused changes in plans, but we still got the camp going! And the spirit remained high. That's something we ought to be proud of, choir. From Day 1 to Day 3, the vast improvement in terms of attitude and maturity is evident. I hope there is something you can pick up and take home; that through a more fun approach, the camp has taught you to be a better person; that through the activities, you have learnt to work as a team, as a choir. Proud of you guys, and always will be. Keep improving , choir. (: May this camp remains as one of the many shared memories we have with VS Choir. :D

Choir, A warm congratulations to the EMD performers . They had put in incredible effort, staying in school till 7pm for a few days in a week and not complaining, practicing for hours each time yet able to stay poitive. Of course there is room for improvements, but the effort had certainly paid off. (: Proud of ourselves! Thank you! The end of EMD performance marks the beginning of our exam break . Do study hard for your exam. (: Prove to your parents that you can manage academics and choir at the same time (so that you can participate in the choir trip next year)! ;D All choir activities are suspended till further notice. Hi guys :) This announcement goes out to all EMD performers. Practice tomorrow will from 2.30pm till the end of the concert (maybe 10 plus??) Dinner will be provided. Please be reminded to bring your full performance attire : Black long-sleeved shirt, black long pants, black socks, black shoes and your coloured tie. Choir, We are very sorry for this late update. There was something wrong with the internet connection. There will not be practice tomorrow, as Singapore's national day is on the following day. Do enjoy a day off and have fun celebrating her 44th birthday! On Tuesday, you will be dismissed from class at 9am . Be in the Music Room by 9.05am. Have a heavy breakfast because we are not having any breaks in between. Please bring along your choir attire. The performance is estimated to end at 12 pm. Let's have fun performing to the youths from other ASEAN countries and show them what we really are. Thank you, choir. For working so hard over the past one and a half week; For adapting to the change in rehearsal time; For singing all out so that we can be heard even after combining with the band; and For the impressively awesome performance that we had, together, presented to the school, the audiences and particularly our dear seniors. I am really proud of all of you for your effort and attitude. Yes, we SOARED during today's performance. There is obviously room for improvement, but nonetheless this was the best I Believe I Can Fly since our first practice. Kudos to VSCB too for putting this performance together with us! Great job, Concert Band! By the way, thank you for being so cooperative in giving our dear Vice Chair his Birthday Surprise! (: I'm sure he won't forget this Birthday for life! :D Our first project is accomplished. Do continue to work hard, I believe we will fly even higher, choir! (: For that, I salute you. Hi people, tomorrow is the day!!! The day where we celebrate Victoria's 133th birthday! Everyone, please meet outside the music room by 1pm and lunch will be provided . However, you may want to consider having a light lunch before coming just in case the food isn't to your liking or that it's portion is too small. PLEASE be reminded to BRING YOUR PENGUIN SUITS . You do not need to wear them to school and will not be able to perform if you forget any part of the penguin suit. Finally, learn your parts well and fully rehearse your verses. It's the final stretch! May we put on a good performance tomorrow and believe that we CAN fly, and Victoria School (esp. the choir) will be able to fly and reach greater heights! Rest well!:)

Hey guys, FYI there is choir practice tomorrow (friday), 17 July 2009. Be outside the Music Room by 2.30pm . Practice is really important as Speech Day is THIS SATURDAY!!! VS Choir, The Choir practice will be as usual as the preparation for Speech Day cannot be further delayed. The school had agreed to us to have practice.  We are having two major events, that is the Workshop with Cantamus Choir (July 11th) and Speech Day Performance (July 18th), soon. There are only two weeks and three weeks respectively to learn the new songs for the separate occasions. This would mean that we have only about 3 or 4 practices for each of them. Therefore, please do give your best in the upcoming practices that we have.  The next practice will be next Thursday, July 2nd, at 2.15 sharp  in the Music Room. See you. hello guys! as the title suggests, this post is on the midi file. anyway, the purpose of uploading the midi files is for you peeps to DRILL and get familiar with our 3 SYF songs - White Horses, Mundi Renovatio and Kucinta. unfortunately, the midi files are still not up on the blog, but they will be soon. so keep checking this page ok! Expect to see mundi and kucinta up here within the next couple of days. =)) oh, and secondly, the flu bug has been buzzing round us for quite some time. some of you have already caught it, so this is a reminder to all you peeps. DO NOT FALL SICK! your voices are very VERY important! please take more vitamin C (beware of phlegm!), herbal tea/drinks e.g. Pei Pa Kao, cooling drinks and most importantly, drink more water! try to avoid deep fried food and whatever not that has the potential of causing sore throat. have enough sleep too. keep your voices in tip-top condition! SYF's not far away! Ganbatte!

Next practice for Sec 1s, 2s and 4s will be on Thursday, 10 March 2009. Be outside the music room by 2.15pm sharp. We should be going for SSCC afterwards. This is to clarify my point on valid reasons a little. If you happen to miss choir for academic reasons, like extra lessons that cannot be shifted, Third Lang, ESP, etc., it should be a valid reason. Tuition is NOT considered a reason as you are expected to reshift your tuition lessons during this period of time. Also, if the whole cohort/class is missing for a reason (like Sec 3 camp), then it is also considered a reason. Please do not flood the tagboard asking me about valid reasons. It is approximately 37 days to SYF. Let's work hard. See you on Thursday.

I will be starting the "lifeline" thing that Mr Kwei was talking about, so all choir members in the SYF team are allowed to miss choir 2 times only with a reason, and 0 times without a valid reason. Also, sorry for the mistake but funerals are part of valid reasons unless I find that you are using the excuse excessively (meaning you are lying). Yo people! Next practice for all will be on 28th February 2009, which is the coming Saturday at 8.30am. Be outside the music room by 8.30am. Do not be late. We'll be having warm-up in school and sectionals before we head over to Siglap South Community Center at around 9.45am. The sec1s will be led there by the seniors. It's just a short walk from VS, so don't worry. Anyway, congratulations to those who passed today's auditions, but please do remember that poor attendance would mean that you'll be removed from the SYF team. If you need to be absent for any choir activity, you are required to submit a medical certificate for medical reasons and/or a letter for non-medical reasons as soon as you return for practice.
